Fatal Gift were initially formed in Wrexham, North Wales in June 1983 from the remnants of local band Yensleep in the post-punk/new wave era.
They were initially a duo; Jon MORRIS on Guitars and Nick SEMPER on Bass and Vocals. They were soon joined by Mike WILLIAMS on keyboards who added the electronic element to the guitar-based sound. Earliest recordings feature a primitive drum machine, eventually to be replaced by Mark ‘Snappy’ JONES on drums and percussion.
With the line-up completed, they played locally but also entered the University & Polytechnic circuit in 1984, touring extensively around the UK. Having been signed by Yucca Records in 1984, they recorded some demo-tapes and released a 7” single.
Fatal Gift operated until 1987 whereupon the members pursued successful careers in teaching, policing and the NHS. Sadly Snappy passed in the mid-90s.
