NEGATIVE IMAGE… Post-punk shadows. New wave pulse. Goth soul.

Born in the mountain fog of Southern California’s Lake Arrowhead in 1988, Negative Image emerged as a visceral reaction to suburban silence. Fusing elements of goth, post-punk, and new wave, the band channeled the moody intensity of the underground into something melodic, angular, and deeply human.

With Aaron Hope’s brooding vocals, Glenn Thayer’s icy synths, Terry Lundwall’s magnetic basslines, and the dual guitar friction of Julian Riskus and Jason Timothy, the band carved out a sound that pulsed through dark clubs and teenage veins alike.

Haunting melodies and emotional unrest defined their catalog—tracks like “The Life We Lead,” “She Flies Away,” and “Something Pure” sound like they were born under red lights and permanent midnight. Equal parts cinematic and raw, Negative Image stood at the edge of an era, blending heartbreak and rebellion into something both personal and anthemic.

This wasn’t just music. It was escape. It was identity. It was the soundtrack to eyeliner, empty streets, and something unspoken.
